Career Development

Workshops
Throughout the year workshops on job hunting, resume writing, electronic mail and World Wide Web use, graduate study, and engineering practices are held.

Career Field Trips
The career field trip projects are a collaborative effort between WIE and the campus Internships & Career Center. Upper-division students are the primary target, but the project generally encourages first- and second- year students to participate in order to gain first hand knowledge of the activities and responsibilities of a professional engineer.

Community Building

Annual First-Year Student Retreat
The weekend retreat precedes the regular campus orientation week and helps engineering women gain a better understanding of their future as engineering students. Both first-year and entering transfer students are invited to participate.

Outreach

Women in Engineering and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) can arrange for groups of high school or community college students to spend time at UC Davis and tour an engineering lab, meet current engineering students, attend an engineering class and receive information about admissions requirements for the College of Engineering. Both Women in Engineering and SWE can send teams of engineering students to high schools and community college classrooms to conduct panels.

Social Activities

Annual Fall dinner in October. Look for invitations.
