Photo of poster of J. Hwang"After the completion of a virtually non-stop kindergarten to Ph.D. education, I found myself to be part of dynamic evolution of women in the workforce-working very hard as a solo woman in most environments. During the last 23 years, my most critical learning was how to handle myself to balance among the core elements of a successful professional woman-competency, capability, intellect, and femininity. If I have to name a single most interesting aspect of my work, it is my interaction with diverse groups of people in science, technology, as well as in business across national borders. With over 100,000 air miles traveling a year, my lectures, speeches, and business have brought me to various locales from Germany, Sweden to Israel, India to Singapore, Japan. It has been a truly enriching experience. The greatest fulfilling experience is that I have proved than one can manage career and family. What remains to be the lasting challenge is to continue maintaining technological leadership in the fast-moving industry. In the meantime, to manage business and keep up a broad spectrum of intellectual rigor. How to use the time in an increasingly effective manner is the essence. To women engineers, no time in history is nearly as exciting and glorious as it is coming. Fire up your energy and ambition. Use your determination to make your dreams come true."
